The additional CBB option will give Pro users more flexibility about when they install the new features, fixes and security updates from Microsoft. Those running Windows 10 Pro are going to have two options: Current Branch (CB) and Current Branch for Business (CBB). And for many consumers, that will be OK, if not welcome. Windows 10 Home users won't have the option of delaying or deferring updates. They will be pushed after Windows Insiders and Microsoft itself tests them. That means those users will have to accept any new, changed or deleted features, fixes and security updates that Microsoft pushes to them via Windows Update. Those running Windows 10 Home will have just one choice - the Current Branch. Different versions of Windows 10 will give users access to different servicing branches. There are going to be three Windows 10 servicing branches when the product launches: Current Branch (CB), Current Branch for Business (CBB) and Long Term Servicing Branch (LTSB). The new update system will be branch based. Instead, they have adopted an update model that reminds me of rolling releases of Linux, where you are getting an up-to-date OS and apps without re-install or a new distro release. So with Windows 10, Microsoft has changed the whole update system. In contrast, with Linux you can use Raspberry PI 2 as a full featured PC (not as powerful hardware as x86, but you can play Quake III, surf the Internet and watch movies) but you cannot do the same with Windows 10 IoT. Unlike other operating systems available for that board, Windows 10 IoT does not provide any user interface at this moment besides a remote PowerShell console. Personally, I tried it recently on my Raspberry PI 2 board and was disappointed. It is targeted for Internet of Things development. Windows 10 IoT is a special edition created for development boards and various robots. Based on the Windows 10 Mobile, and adds flexible ways for businesses to manage updates. Features like Cortana, Microsoft Edge web browser, Continuum/Start menu tablet mode for touch-capable devices, Windows Hello face-recognition and Modern apps will be available in this edition. This is the consumer-focused desktop edition. It's unlikely that the average home user will ever need to worry about these things, if you'd like to access to them anyway, you'll have to upgrade to Pro.Advertisеment According to Microsoft, Windows 10 will be available in the following editions after it is released: It allows admins to control things like required password complexity, network access, remote startup/shutdown, and other network security settings. Either for a single PC or a group of PCs. This tool is aimed squarely at system admins and is designed to allow advanced control over a selection of centralized settings. Windows 10 Pro lets you access the Local Group Policy Editor. But for most home users, a good antivirus or malware suite will keep you safe from malicious apps just as well. No doubt a useful feature if you regularly install apps from questionable sources. Closing the sandbox environment discards everything installed there automatically. If you wanted to test a suspicious app, you could install it in this sandbox where it can be tested separately from the rest of the OS. Included as part of Windows 10 Pro, the sandbox is a lightweight desktop environment used to run applications safely in isolation. It will display what you would normally see on the physical console of your server. The window's title will be something like this: "Remote View: Server1". This will cause the last of the dialog windows to disappear and a Java console window will appear. This one will say 'Do you want to run this application?'. The 'Security Warning' window will close and another one (untitled) will open. You may disregard this warning and click on 'Continue'. This happens because the Java application is being downloaded from a site other than the one specified by the security certificate. You will be asked if you want to continue even though the connection to this website is untrusted. Previous dialog window will close and another titled 'Security Warning' will open. Click on the 'OK' button to perform this action. On our test system, Firefox tries to open this Java application with 'IceTea Java Web Start' (it might also so 'Java(TM) Web Start Launcher'). Next time you click on 'Connect', your web browser will know what to do with the "Inquery" file without first prompting you. At this stage, you can also tell your web browser to 'Do this automatically for files like this from now on.', if that option is offered and if you'd like to automate this step. Under Linux it might be '/usr/bin/javaws'. If you need to guide your web browser, tell it to 'Open' this file type with the Java Web Start interpreter that is appropriate for your Operating System. If you have never opened a JNLP (Java Network Launching Protocol) file type before, your web browser won't know what application to launch so it might ask you to tell it where it can find the Java Web Start interpreter. If Java installer on your client system has correctly configured your web browser, the default handler for 'Java Web Start' file type is 'javaws'. Every time you click on the 'Connect' button to establish a Java console connection to your server, a unique token is generated for that connection and it has a timer that expires rather quickly.Ī dialog window titled 'Opening Inquery' will pop up. Do not wait more than 30 seconds between each dialog window. Next, you will interact with a series of 3 dialog boxes. Click on the first 'Connect' button (the one below 'Port Status: OnlineMountable' line). It might look like this:Ĭlick on any part of ' Server1'. The two instances of 'WB5' represent two ports of an auxiliary KVM in rack 'WB5' that is uplinked to the master KVM.Ĭlicking on '' will open a list of KVM ports of your servers as well as any PDUs that power your systems. The 'WB6' is the rack housing the master KVM in the User-Manage rack row. In the left pane, you will see something like this: You will see that the "Port Access" tab is already selected by default (highlighted in a light shade of blue), you will also see that under "Port Access", sub-tab "Connections" is also pre-selected (it is in bold font). The KVM switch uses a self-signed certificate, so on your first login you will need to acknowledge the warning about the connection being untrusted. Log in to the remote KVM (URL given above) using your ENCS username and password. Your installation of Java needs to include a Java Web Start launcher (on a Linux workstation it might be '/usr/bin/javaws'). In the meantime, forget about the browser, and instead refer to the How to use the stand-alone Java Client AP section below. This has been reported to APC (the maker of this KVM) and we're waiting for them to fix their application. That Java release is more restrictive and it prevents the Java virtual console application from running. There is a known problem with version 1.0.0_51 (7u51) of Oracle Java that was released on. We've tested with Firefox 26 with Oracle Java v1.7.0_45 (7u45) under Linux Mint 13. You'll need a computer (running the O/S of your choice) with a recent web browser and a recent version of JRE (Java Runtime Environment). NOTE: From a Unix host, you must forward port 443 as user "root". The Service Desk has a set of instructions on setting up ssh tunnels available in their documentation on Remote Access via Remote Desktop. Once the connection has been established, open your web browser and connect to: Simply forward local ports 4 to the same ports respectively on the desired KVM. It is possible to use ssh port forwarding to create a tunnel from your home computer to the remote KVM via "login.encs". The host "login.encs" has permission to access the user console network, but it can be unusaly slow to run a web browser with a remote display. The remote KVMs are not accessible from outside of the ENCS network. All desktops within the ENCS network can reach the remote KVMs directly. The only thing I did with that drive was to install Windows 10. I never set a password for the Crucial MX300 M.2 drive installed in my NUC, and the drive was not installed in another PC before. To understand better, is this a hard disk that it was encrypted and installed in another PC and you install it in the NUC or you encrypted this disk using the NUC? However, although the drive may be encrypted, there is no password prompt on start-up, and I have no idea how to enable such a password prompt.ĪFAIK, Windows BitLocker supports OPAL, but I am running Windows 10 Home edition, so BitLocker is not an option.Īny comments would be greatly appreciated. It seems reasonable that the NUC6I3SYK BIOS does not offer to set a Hard Disk Drive Password for a drive that is already encrypted. I now believe that the installation of Windows 10 activated some sort of encryption on the Crucial MX300 275GB M.2 drive. Unfortunately, this did not bring the button back. To download the application, users simply need to visit their website. This is because Ashampoo designed the application especially for amateur users who do not have much knowledge about the computer and for those who want to save time while repairing their drivers. Ashampoo, in general, is also given a Microsoft Gold Certification which ensures that they have been monitored and guided by the company when they created the application which maximizes its compatibility with the operating system. The application is certified safe by most websites. It is not a self-replicating virus or a form of malware. Users should also not be wary of the application as it is totally safe for the computer. Instead of making users have to manually look at the condition of each driver in the computer and update each one-by-one, the application summarizes all of these in one list and lists out the appropriate drivers for each. The application eases the process of updating the drivers by having a user-friendly interface which simplifies the process. This is because manufacturers regularly update the drivers of their products to ensure that its performance will always be at its peak. While the hardware installs a basic form of its driver to make it usable upon first connection to the computer, users may not be sure whether this is the best for the computer. It also comes with various features such as driver restore and backup. This makes the process of updating the drivers of the computer faster and easier. Various factors such as the presence of viruses, outdated hardware, or having too much software can all affect this. Ensuring that the computer is at peak performance is hard to do even with normal usage. Just note that, if you’re a desktop user and you opt for the model with the USB-C port, you will likely have problems plugging the drive into rear USB-C ports on the motherboard. And it’s also fairly slim, making it easy to slip into a pocket. But at $30-$35, Kingston’s 256GB drive is a great balance of speed, affordability and capacity for those who don’t want to spend much more on a roomier fast alternative.Īvailable with either a USB-C or USB-A connector (though not both, like Transcend’s drive), the 256GB DataTraveler Max performed nearly as well as its more spacious 1TB sibling in our PCMark, DisBench, and CrystalDiskMark tests, making it the second-fastest flash drive we’ve tested (third if you count the 1TB Kingston drive as competition). Just like its roomier 1TB variant, the 256GB Kingston DataTraveler Max is a speed demon in the flash drive world, even if it falls a bit short of the newer Transcend ESD31C Portable SSD (see our next pic, below). There's a slot at the back of Buffalo's drive for attaching it to a lanyard, but this drive doesn't feel like it would last that long getting jostled around everywhere alongside your keys. I just wish the drive's plastic shell felt less creaky and cheap, although that's an issue with the pricier Kingston DataTraveler Max, as well. Selling for around $70 for the 1TB model when we wrote this, it's more affordable than many 1TB alternatives, and it's even available in a 2TB model, which usually sells for less than $150. It uses a USB Type-A port, although a USB-C adapter is included in the box. It's a bit bulky at about 3/4 of an inch wide at the port, and 0.9 inches wide at its maximum width. It usually costs about $20-$30 less than the faster Kingston DataTraveler Max, while still delivering 616.9 MB/s sequential read speed and 543.9 MB/s sequential writes in our CrystalDiskMark tests. This drive from networking and storage stalwarts at Buffalo stands out for being a good balance between fast performance and affordable pricing. That means if you're plugging those drives into a USB 3.0/USB 3.1 Gen1 (5Gbps) port (those are still far more common than the faster Gen 2 ports), performance won't be as fast as it could be. All of the faster flash drives we've tested have a single Type-A or Type-C connector.Īlso, note that drives that promise speeds of 500 MB/s or more use USB 3.x Gen 2 (10 Gbps) ports. A few drives have both connectors on the same drive, which is certainly more convenient than having to keep track of an adapter and have it with you every time you need it. Some drives are offered with either a USB-A connector or USB-C, and some come with adapters to convert from USB-A to USB-C or vice versa. One thing to keep in mind when shopping is what type of ports you'll be plugging your flash drive into. And as the prices of M.2 SSDs plummets, you may find more value by building your own external SSD. However, if fast performance is important to you and you can live with a device that's just a little bit bigger, external SSD might be a better buy. To help you choose what drive is best for you, we’ve tested dozens of recent flash drives from leading brands and listed the best USB flash drives below. If you've been hanging onto a drive for several years, now's a good time to upgrade. Capacities of up to 2TB are an option with some models (and 1TB is becoming common), and performance on the best flash drives approaches that of some of the best external SSDs. But in all cases, my data remained intact.īecause these drives seemingly last forever, you could be hanging onto one that’s pitifully slow by today’s standards, and too cramped to hold all the data you want. Over the years, I've sent flash drives through laundry cycles in pants pockets, and I even drove over a flash drive with my car when I was in college, crushing its outer shell. Plus, a good flash drive can be shockingly tough to kill. You may also need a USB flash drive to do a clean and quick install of your favorite OS (see how to do a clean install of Windows). For many, a flash drive that you can carry around in your pocket or on your keychain is still a better option – and faster if you don't have a fast internet connection on every device you use. The argument in support of such claims grows stronger when the verification system fails. NVIDIA has long been criticized for requiring you to go through an authorization process in order to use certain game features. Also, because of this, users have to manually update the driver for the graphics card, which is not always convenient. All of this becomes inaccessible if the service is not working. We are indeed talking about Power Tool, which allows you to equip a copy of the primary weapon as a secondary weapon (in our case the Nail Gun) and fire from both at the same time, effectively doubling the Survivor’s attack speed. The challenge isn’t trivial, but considering which skill it unlocks, it’s worth a try. To unlock the second it is necessary to enter and beat the Fields of Void during stage 7 or higher. If any of you are familiar with the MUL-T Survivor, they will know that the robot has two special abilities at its disposal, but only one of them is immediately available. As for the speed of attack, or even movement, I scratch my neck, in this build they are irrelevant. Once you have reached the core build (which counts about ten-fifteen Bunghi), it is possible to enrich it with Safer Spaces (to prevent the turrets from being one-shot), Infusions (increase the survivability of the towers and the damage of each Flaming Skull ), a Lysate Cell (to place up to three towers at once) and, of course, ten Glasses (to make sure all skulls do double damage). Just place the turrets side by side and stand still between the two to produce an unstoppable wave of explosive skulls that will make you reach wave 50 of the Simulacrum effortlessly. This is where the two legendary items come into play: the Rack doubles the healing generated by the Bungi, while N’kuhana transforms the excess healing into Yu-gi-oh’s the Flaming Skulls from Yu-gi-oh. If two turrets are close enough to each other, you can even benefit from both healing zones at the same time. This means that once a turret has been placed, it is possible to stay in the surrounding area and benefit from all the Bungal heals. The engineer’s special ability allows him to create turrets that inherit his own objects, and static turrets (deafult R) are immune to the pushback effects of enemiy attacks. Each Bungus after the first increases the radius and intensity of the effect.īy themselves, the Bungi are not the most useful item there is, also because staying still on Risk of Rain 2 is more dangerous than going to Chicago with a Rolex on your wrist, but they have a particular synergy with the engineer. Bustling Fungi, known to RoR2 veterans as Bungi, create a healing zone around the owner if the owner remains motionless for a few seconds. But I would not recommend this route to anyone else.” How do you tattoo differently with the different ink?Īustralian tattoo artist, Tukoi Oya, started tattooing with UV ink with a “rave til the grave” attitude. “All of the pink ink has nearly faded but the strange thing is that it does still glow under a blacklight. It was some Skin Candy knock-off brand that I think I bought because it was the cheapest shit on there. “My first blacklight tattoo was self-administered and done using this terrible quality UV pink ink that I found on Amazon. Kayla Newell, tattoo artist at Secret Club Tattoo in Portand, Oregon, had fallen victim to the UV ink-supply from Amazon when she first started with black light. “This was weird because I run my machine pretty low, and it’s very rare that my tattoos get anywhere near as irritated as this was.” “With the teeth, I used a shader on the whole thing and it got super irritated in the skin,” McCloud said. He used his liner needles to apply the ink. “They released green, red, pink, etc., so I ordered the green to give it a try.” Tattoo by Quinton McCloudįor McCloud’s second round, he tattooed a Xenomorph mouth mock of plastic vampire teeth. “I asked him why I never really saw or heard of anyone getting them, and he told me that the only place you could get UV ink at the time was from sources that weren’t really trustworthy tattoo suppliers, like eBay and Amazon,” McCloud said.Ī couple years later, McCloud stumbled upon Kurosumi Ink’s UV pigment line, Kuro Sumi Glow. McCloud always wanted to try blacklight tattoos, but said during his apprenticeship, the mentor dismissed the credibility of the newly-budding practice. The tattoo, of a gecko wearing a party hat, is best highlighted with UV ink, in the “here and there” spots McCloud tested it on: on the fingernails, in the party hat, and in the confetti. “Because it was my first time doing it, I just wanted to test it out by putting a little here and there,” McCloud said. Quinton McCloud, tattoo artist at Karmic Tattoo in South Atlanta, had done his first black light tattoo with hesitance to “over glow.” How does the process differ from a “regular” tattoo? INKED talks to blacklight tattoo artists about the ins and outs of the UV tattoo trend. This is why it is important to make sure the tattoo artist, and shop you are going to, are reputable and have worked with black light tattoos before. UV ink is thinner and harder to work with. Blacklight tattoos can boost the concept of the tattoo, like glowing up the beam of a flying saucer or add a little flair, like to the spots on a tiny teacup. Done properly, UV ink can make a tattoo look its best, making it as if the tattoo was made for blacklight ink. UV tattoos are a cute “pop” in the tattoo world, and are gaining popularity for their creative twist on the traditional tattoo. Black light tattoos do not glow-in-the-dark in the same way your star stickers in your childhood bedroom glow. |
